Me and Journalism
I hold this profession with high regard, due to the authority and the responsibility it affords those who practice it. Journalism for me has been a medium that upholds accountability and serves as a voice for the voiceless. I personally have the priviledge of working for an investigative television programme, in which I am able to probe and ask uncomfortable questions without any fear or intimidation. Journalism is a tool that reveals the hidden or ignored facts to the masses, a tool for change and an essential instrument to promote good governance and accountability.
Me and Development Cooperation from the North
Development cooperation with the North has been, and still is the backbone of most tangible communal, national , regional and even continental overall development. In capital and human capital terms, it is the main source of development for many communities and countries. I fully support development cooperation but I also believe that guided expertise is mostly reguired for it to make meaningful contribution for targetted communities.
Me and My Home Continent
My home continent is rich, diverse and beautiful. For years, Africa has faced numerous challenges: wars, lack of education, diseases and obsolute poverty, to name but a few, yet there are also many success stories in Africa, individuals who are trying to make a difference in their societies. I hold Africa to heart, and belive that as a 21st century African, there is a lot that we can do to better our continent, mainly by turning it into a more industrialised continent. For that, we need to learn from other continent's successes and put that into practise, especially on the political front.
