The East4South project was originally designed for a period of two years, however, the project team handed in a request for its extension and recently the agreement was signed.

A selection of participants from cycle 1, 2 and 3 will have the chance to produce another media piece in Africa. Participants for cycle 4 will be chosen by a selection committee consisting of representatives of all three partner organisations. The selection criteria are:

1)    The teamwork during the previous cycles should have been dominated by professionalism and productive cooperation.

2)    The participant should have shown/should be showing profound interest in development aid topics and in journalism on development aid topics.

3)    The participant should have shown profound professionalism in their work.

Four to five teams of a European journalist as well as an African journalist will be invited to take part in another trip to Africa to report on a MDG topic of their choice.

Selected candidates will be informed until end of April. During a three month preparation phase the teams will be able to get to know each other through communication channels on the World Wide Web and work on their storyboards. The 15 day-trip will take place in July/August. All cycle 4 participants will then meet for a 9 day post-production phase at the Deutsche Welle in Bonn.
